Hi!

I always wonder who actually reads the About page on a website. If you’re here, I’m honored – thanks for your interest.

My name is Arne, founder of Kaboo13. As you’re reading this, I’m 28 years old. I’ve always been into sports and over the years transitioned from football, to running, and eventually to cycling. After starting cycling during a running injury in 2019, it quickly became my number one sport.

It’s fair to say I’m obsessed with cycling. I ride over 30,000 km each year and compete in Dutch elite national races. Being on the bike that much also means being involved in accidents every now and then. Cycling is an incredibly beautiful sport, but riding on public roads also makes it one of the riskiest.

That’s where Kaboo13 comes in

Every ride starts with a routine. Bottles filled, tires pumped, helmet on, spare tube and pump packed, bars in the jersey, keys in your pocket, bike computer on – and off you go. But when you think about it, none of these routines are really there to cover your safety.

That’s where the idea for Kaboo13 came from.

What if cyclists nearby could help each other in case of an accident? What if your friends, family, or teammates were instantly notified when you leave for a ride, might be involved in an accident, or get back home safely?

Kaboo13 is built to make every ride more connected and safer – without changing the way you ride.

And the weird name? Well Kaboo comes from peekaboo, ‘here I am’, and the upside down 13 is there to reverse any bad luck on the road!
